Voice dictation for the Mac
Hold a key. Speak. It's written.
Hold the 🌐 key anywhere on your Mac and talk — in English or Persian. Let go, and your words appear in whatever you were writing: mail, messages, notes, code.
Writing, at the speed of speech
No windows to open, nothing to copy and paste. Sokhan lives quietly in your menu bar until you press the key.
Anywhere you type
Mail, WhatsApp, Word, Safari, the terminal — if the cursor blinks there, Sokhan types there. Release the key and the text lands where you were writing.
Two languages, one key
Speak English or Persian — سخن recognises both, with fast, accurate transcription and punctuation handled for you.
Light & considerate
A tiny menu-bar app. It records only while you hold the key, shows you when it's listening, and even works offline in English using your Mac's own engine.
Two minutes to set up
- Open the download and drag Sokhan into Applications, then launch it.
- Find the microphone icon in your menu bar — Sokhan has no Dock icon.
- Allow Microphone, then grant Accessibility from the menu — that's how Sokhan types into your apps.
- Sign in with Google. Transcription runs on our servers with a free monthly allowance.
- Click into any text field, hold 🌐, speak, release. Done.
Your voice, everywhere
Dictation is only half the story. The same sign-in opens itranscribe.org — a full transcription studio in your browser, for meetings, lectures, voice notes and recordings. One account, and everything you say becomes something you can read.
